Animal Care Hospital Hawaii Kai

Visited this establishment to adopt a cat. Found an adorable black, 6-month cat to adopt and filled out the 4-page adoption papers. Visited facility 3 times to study and interact with the potential adoptee cat and to inspect facility and staff members. Received a phone call advising that black cats can't be adopted until after Halloween in order to prevent the possibility of satanic, sacrificial ritual on the potential cat. I was attempting to adopt a cat in September. I did not see any written warnings or received any word of this policy during the application process or during my three visits that I couldn't adopt a black cat until after Halloween. I was advised to check back after the 31st and my chances to adopt this black cat would be increased. I was advised that this was a policy and they didn't want to show discrimination to let me adopt but not others. They certainly displayed satanic profiling on me?! I was advised that I could adopt any of the other non-black cats, just not the black cats. I highly commend their no-kill efforts, but I'm highly disappointed in their sensibility. In general, the demand to adopt black cats are far less as compared to other non-black cats; so, this is just another hurdle in the adoption process for black cats. I will look at other avenues to adopt a rescue cat; and hopefully, the other establishment and their staff members will have a little more sensibility to recognize a far-fetched possibility from reality in potential adopters.

Avoid Do Not Go

After determining my dog has an ear infection. They did not have the prescription medication available. I have been calling them for 3 weeks now and the medication is still not in. They manage to charge me for it on my exam bill. I get the run around every time, it coming in from the mainland, the supplier is out.

AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!

THEY ARE RADICALS THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. REPUTABLE GROUPS AVOID THEM. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN AGENDA AND ARE VINDICTIVE. PETS SHOULD BE VEGETARIAN... ARE YOU KIDDING? IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PET, PLEASE VISIT A REPUTABLE SHELTER. THERE ARE MANY ANIMALS THERE WAITING FOR HOMES.... WHILE THIS GROUP RANTS AND RAVES.

AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!

They are known to be a radical group here on the island. Most other reputable rescue groups will have nothing to do with them. Among other things, they require that their animals be vegetarian - after 8000 years!. They don't accept money for their pets (it's against their principles), but accept part of other groups adoptions fees for "services rendered" (seems very hypocritical, right). They were known for their rescue services, but are now turning away animals and groups in large numbers. If you don't do things their way, they are known to be very vindictive (protests at Hawaiian Humane Society fundraisers - like they don't take enough crap, and a variety of other venues) and put their own interests ahead of the animals. Please visit any of the other shelters on Oahu.... somewhere that they put the animals first, not their own program.
